Student Expedition 2020

Dumaguete, Philippines

10 Nights - July 27th - August 6th, 2020

Since 2012 Blue Endeavors has been taking students on expeditions all over the world. Students on our expeditions get to partake in all the same dive experiences as recreational divers visiting these areas, but also have a science and ocean conservation mission.

THE PROJECT: At Blue Endeavors, we seek to provide opportunities for students to develop self-awareness, understanding their own cultural identities and seeing other cultural perspectives, building authentic empathy. On this trip, students will have the opportunity to meet and work with the local students from Dumaguete committed to learning about and protecting the marine environment through Silliman University. Through learning about their program, spending time getting to know them, and collaborating on data collection for a Reef Check survey we hope to build bonds between our communities. As we venture on this expedition, we hope to build the capacity of students to lead with empathy, be civically astute, and use their unique voices to address the issues that matter to them.

Blue Endeavors is donating the cost of the basic dive training, research diving, and dive leadership in Dumaguete to reduce the expedition cost to Blue Endeavors students and school parents. Additionally we are supporting the local students in Dumaguete with financial aid to participate in this program. Please contact vince@blue-endeavors.org if you are interested in supporting more local students with financial aid, including your student’s local dive buddy in Dumaguete.
