If you would like your donation to go to a specific student Hub or a specific impact area, please let us know via email at connect@whalefall.ngo. For example, you could earmark your donation for local students in Palau or to advance our work in open networked science and open source development.

A whalefall occurs when a deceased whale sinks to the ocean floor, providing a sudden influx of organic matter to the deep-sea ecosystem. This creates a localized hub of biodiversity as scavengers and decomposers feed on the carcass, sustaining a complex web of interactions and enriching the surrounding environment with nutrients. The whale skeleton can support rich communities for years to decades. Just as a whalefall enriches the deep-sea environment, our network empowers students to collaborate on impactful solutions that sustainably nurture and protect the natural world for generations to come.
